Today marks the 100th day of the Biden-Harris administration.
Carol Rose, executive director of the ACLU of Massachusetts, today released the following statement in response:
“When the Biden-Harris administration took office, they were met with a multitude of crises: the COVID-19 pandemic, a reckoning with our country’s historic and current systemic racism, and undoing the damage of the Trump administration. Even as President Biden has taken swift and key executive actions in his first 100 days in office, the work ahead is significant—particularly on racial justice and immigration.
“But Massachusetts policymakers cannot wait for, or rely solely on the federal government to act on these issues. Our leaders in the Commonwealth must continue to work toward justice, fairness, and equality for all of us, especially when the Biden administration falls short. The ACLU’s 101-year history has shown us that change is always made from the ground up, in our own towns, cities, and states. Massachusetts must lead freedom forward by reimagining public safety, reining in police abuse of power, and keeping families together regardless of immigration status.”
