Carol Rose, executive director of the ACLU of Massachusetts, today released the following statement in response to the inauguration of President Joseph Biden:

“Despite the challenges in front of us, today is a moment for change in our country—if activists, advocates, and voters continue to work for it. With the Biden-Harris administration now in office, urgent action is needed in their first 100 days—and beyond—to protect and extend the rights and liberties enshrined in our Constitution. President Biden and Vice President Harris must not only prioritize undoing the many harms of the previous administration, but work toward a vision of the country that heralds justice, fairness, and equality for all of us.”

Background:

The ACLU has filed 400 lawsuits in four years to fight the Trump administration’s anti-liberties agenda, including over a dozen filed by the ACLU of Massachusetts. With affiliates in every state, the ACLU is fighting to save lives, advocate for vulnerable communities, safeguard the right to vote, protect abortion rights, and guard against unjustified government overreach.
