Carol Rose, executive director of the ACLU of Massachusetts, today released the following statement in response to today’s passage of a criminal justice reform bill in the House and Senate:
“This criminal justice bill represents important progress for Massachusetts, even as more work remains to be done to end over-incarceration and eliminate our state’s gross racial disparities. Governor Baker now has the opportunity to be a force for change – and we urge him to sign into law a criminal justice package that ensures the fair administration of justice for everyone, not just the connected and wealthy. Anything short of that is an endorsement of a criminal justice system that favors unfairness over justice for all.”
