The Massachusetts Coalition for Choice, which includes the ACLU of Massachusetts, Planned Parenthood Advocacy Fund of Massachusetts and NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts, today released the following statement in response to the reported failure of the anti-choice signature drive:
“While the Massachusetts Elections Division has not officially released the signature certification results, the chair of the group working to take away equality in healthcare has said the group did not gather enough signatures to move ahead. The Massachusetts Constitution protects equal access to reproductive healthcare; we are gratified that our founding document will not be undermined by a small group of people trying to force their dangerous agenda on the women of the Commonwealth, and we are proud that the people of Massachusetts support equal and affordable healthcare for everyone. Massachusetts has a long history of leading the nation in safeguarding healthcare access and women’s rights, and we are proud to strengthen and continue that tradition.”
