Carol Rose, executive director of the ACLU of Massachusetts, today released the following statement in response to the passing of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg:
“Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was a pioneer for gender equality, and our country is changed because of her life’s work. As the first director of the ACLU Women’s Rights Project, she fiercely fought gender discrimination. And as the second woman to serve as Justice on the U.S. Supreme Court, she made innumerable contributions to American constitutional law. As we mourn a trailblazer, we must also honor her mission by promoting 'the equality of all people and the ability to be free.’”
