District attorneys are the most powerful people in the criminal justice system. They decide who gets charged with a crime – and determine how most criminal cases are resolved. This means these elected officials have tremendous impact on people’s lives and our communities.
The ACLU of Massachusetts’ What a Difference a DA Makes campaign is a first-of-its-kind public education initiative in Massachusetts. Powered by a network of partner organizations, this campaign seeks to highlight the key role that the Commonwealth’s district attorneys play in determining the effectiveness and fairness of the criminal legal system – and to inform and educate Massachusetts residents so they are more aware and engaged in their local district attorney elections.
