Student face surveillance is becoming rampant: help us demand an end to it in Massachusetts.
As part of the Press Pause on Face Surveillance campaign, the ACLU of Massachusetts and our partners Encode Justice and Student Immigrant Movement are hosting a Student Week of Action this September to highlight the dangers posed by the use of face surveillance technology in schools, and to empower students to advocate for their civil rights. Sign up for one of our events below, and take action against dystopian surveillance!
Week of Action Timeline

Self Directed Action: Learn & Share
Take some time to watch the recording of the August 27th Student Week of Action on Face Surveillance webinar co-hosted by Encode Justice, the Student Immigrant Movement and the ACLU of Massachusetts and share the Click-to-Call action tool with your network.
If you have any questions email osantoro@aclum.org.
Wednesday, September 15 @ 6:00pm
Text Bank hosted by SIM
Join the Student Immigrant Movement (SIM) for a virtual text-banking party to invite community members to take action for a statewide ban on the use of facial recognition technology in schools.
We are gathering on zoom to go over the text message information we are sending out to our community and staying online to support one another in sending the texts out. We are texting young people, families, and workers with an ask to call or send an email to their state representatives at the MA statehouse and urge them to show their support for S.47 and H.135.
Thursday, September 16 @ All Day

Email Bank hosted by Encode Justice
Encode Justice is hosting an email bank in support of a statewide law to ban face surveillance in schools! We’ll be contacting elected officials to ask that they demonstrate their commitment to privacy and racial justice by backing our campaign to press pause on face surveillance. We hope that young people and community organizers everywhere will join us in channeling people power to stand up for algorithmic justice!
