The American Civil Liberties Union of Massachusetts filed an amicus brief in Commonwealth v. Forlizzi, a Superior Court case involving a dispute about whether, during a grand jury investigation of a criminal defendant, the Attorney General's office violated ethics rules by secretly obtaining four years' worth of bank records for the defendant's attorney. The ACLU brief argues that state ethics rules required prosecutors to seek court approval before obtaining the records.
