Tens of thousands of drug convictions in Massachusetts have been tainted by their association with chemist Annie Dookhan's work. But the current plan for addressing the crisis—retrying cases one by one—threatens instead to worsen it. Public officials should chart a better course, one that will restore the Commonwealth's reputation and save taxpayers money.
On January 9, 2014, the ACLU filed a lawsuit asking the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court to deliver a fair, efficient and comprehensive approach to the tainted convictions resulting from the Hinton state drug lab scandal.
